Description: Made for a private collector in Canada who had fallen in love with a box attributed to Marcel Dedieu, c. 1956. The genius of the original box was reflected in the functional, square interior box that was covered with a football-shaped mosaic of interwoven triangles, trapezoids, and rounds in what appeared to be Rosewood. Each were different sizes, shapes, and heights, and while I do not usually reproduce other people’s work, the technical challenges presented an intriguing puzzle that I could no resist. Inspired, I created this homage in the spirit of the original piece.
