Michael Coffey has been creating sculptural furniture for over 50 years. Over this time he has organized two woodworking schools and trained many apprentices in his specialized techniques. With a steadily increasing demand for his work, it became necessary to formalize a permanent team. Thus was born the Michael Coffey Sculptor Studio LLC. Pictured above are the members of the LLC.   • Apprenticed in Northern California with the Baulines Craft Guild.
  • Started working for Michael Coffey in 1991.
  • My specialties include building furniture with curved elements, prototypes of all kinds, computer models, CNC work.
  • I especially enjoy the unique design and execution of complicated pieces.

Brian is …

  • Graduate of the North Bennet Street School cabinet and furniture making program in Boston, 2004
  • Professional furniture maker since 1998
  • Teacher at New England School of Architectural Woodwork (NESAW) since 2009
  • Created the curriculum for the workshop program “The Workbench” within NESAW
  • Worked for and assisted countless furniture makers in the Pioneer Valley who have each passed along knowledge and skills that I have been able to bring to my work
  • Over the past several years I have been dividing time between woodworking and beginning an organic blueberry farm in Holyoke, MA

Dodie is the Treasurer for Michael Coffey Sculptor Studio LLC. She maintains the financial records, files the annual report with the state, compiles information for the accountant for income taxes, signs checks, and keeps the books balanced.

  • Taught continuing education workshops for practicing librarians in Massachusetts and Connecticut

Matt is the Archivist for the Michael Coffey Sculptor Studio LLC. His professional and practical experience with record-keeping and information organization is vital to the conduct of any business.

  • Finding aid for a collection of art catalogues at the Clark Institute of Art Library as part of an internship for the M.S. degree

  • Personal drive and curiosity to catalogue his collection of books published by New Directions, a publisher of cutting-edge literature and poetry
