Geolithic Carving in the 21st Century

Geolithic Carving is the term I use to describe my style of deep wood carving, and it draws inspiration from many sources.

You won’t find Geolithic Carving in the Webster Dictionary. I created the term to evoke the carving action of water on rock over eons.

Deep wood carving has been used to decorate chairs, cabinets, headboards, wall cornices and other architectural elements for centuries. Classical applications of the style represent literal depictions of nature, such as plants and vines in Art Nouveau. In the Rococo style, natural themes entwine organically with gargoyles and snakes, often mounted on claw and ball feet.
